About the College
Sacred Heart Arts & Science College, Perani is a premier institution dedicated to women's higher education, located on the Trichy–Chennai National Highway at Perani, Tindivanam Taluk, Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu. Established with the vision of empowering rural and first-generation learners, the college is managed by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST).
As a minority institution, it continues to enjoy the rights and privileges guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ — Love, Peace, Brotherhood/Sisterhood, Equality, Joy, and Service — the college strives to provide holistic education that integrates academic excellence, moral values, social responsibility, and leadership skills.
Special emphasis is given to the empowerment of women from economically and socially marginalised communities. The CSST congregation was founded on 24 April 1887 by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima (born Mary Grace, Madras, 29 January 1858) — a visionary who used education as a tool to shape women into leaders, upright citizens, and agents of social transformation. Her covenant with God, expressed in the words "Amazing Grace", continues to inspire the mission of the college.
